GAMMELGARDEN | Take a field trip to a Swedish “Old Farm”

“Gammelgården” means Old Farm in Swedish. Students can step back in history and experience the lives of early Swedish immigrants at the United States only open air museum devoted to Swedish immigration. During a field trip, in buildings that have been carefully preserved and restored, your students can get a glimpse of the daily lives of these immigrants and participate in events and classes to learn more about the culture and times of the immigrants. Visit the many buildings on Gammelgården Museum’s 11-acre site. Your guide will provide a lots of information about the Välkommen Hus, Präst Hus, Gammel Kyrkan, Ladugård, Immigrant Hus and Swedish Stuga.

For the safety of all of our guests, please call before making plans to visit. Thank you.

Gammelgården Museum COVID-19 Health and Safety Update:
The Gammelgården Museum is pleased to announce that we are opening on May 1, 2021.
We look forward to welcoming you back this season and have developed best practices to keep you safe during your visit. Health and safety measures have been put in place based on recommendations set forth by the Minnesota Department of Health, Stay Safe MN guidelines. To comply with these guidelines, modifications have been made to Gammelgården operations, as well as to seasonal programming and events.
To ensure your safety, we have eliminated some of the programs and seasonal events we offer and have reduced the number of participants in our historic building tours, special events, and classes. The number of museum guests allowed in our buildings at one time will be monitored due to reduced capacity limits. You are welcome to shop in person at the Scandia Butik Gift Shop but you may be asked to wait to enter if the Butik is at capacity. Please come prepared to purchase your items with a credit or debit card.
During your visit, we ask that you stay at least six feet away from others who are not in your group and refrain from touching displays and museum artifacts.
Staff and visitors are required to wear face coverings at all times while on the premises. Those without face coverings will be asked to visit another time.
As a friendly reminder, please do not visit Gammelgården Museum if you are ill or exhibiting symptoms.
We are committed to remaining open this season as long as we feel it is safe to do so. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and partnership in helping to make this happen.
