The internationally-acclaimed Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibition gives guests an opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal view of the great masterpieces that adorn Rome’s Sistine Chapel. This is an incredible and safe experience,” said Martin Biallas, CEO of Los Angeles-based SEE Global Entertainment, producer of the Sistine Chapel exhibit.
Running at MOA until April 4 (Easter), 2021.
The exhibit will continue to follow all safety protocols for in-person events established by the Center for Disease Control, the Minnesota Department of Health and Mall of America to promote the safety of all guests, including required masks and social distancing. This touch-free experience received high ticket sales during its one week of operation. This limited-time exhibit is expected to be open through Easter.
“Mall of America is excited to offer this experience to guests,” said Jill Renslow, Executive Vice President of Mall of America. “This exhibit will provide a unique, cultural opportunity for visitors of all ages.”
The Sistine Chapel Exhibition is an immersive presentation of museum-quality, near life-size reproductions of the iconic master’s frescoes that adorn the Sistine Chapel in Rome. This is the first post-COVID traveling exhibition to come to Mall of America.
The Sistine Chapel exhibit allows visitors to experience one of the world’s greatest artistic achievements: Michelangelo’s renowned ceiling frescoes from the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, reproduced in near-original size in a format that allows viewers to get face-to-face with the masterpieces. Through 34 artfully displayed reproductions, this innovative presentation includes world-renowned pieces like The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgement, bringing them just a few feet away from the audience.
For art lovers, history buffs, and the devout the Sistine Chapel exhibit offers a way to experience Michelangelo’s work in a contemporary and curated space on level two of the north atrium. Guests may enhance their experience by adding an optional audio guide, with narrative accompaniment available in four languages. The extensive audio guide is conveniently available to listen from the comfort of your own smart phone.
The Sistine Chapel exhibit will be open at Mall of America starting Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. on level two of the north atrium. For hours of operation, please visit www.chapelsistine.com. The exhibit will be open through Easter. Tickets are $19 for the public, $14 for seniors, college students and military veterans; children 6 and under are free.
