Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sit within a traditional Dakota tipi or touch the hides of animals traditionally hunted by the Dakota people? Experience all of this and more with a guided tour of Hoċokata Ti’s public exhibit, Mdewakanton: Dwellers of the Spirit Lake.
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) owns and operates Hoċokata Ti, the tribe’s cultural center and gathering space. It features a 3,850-square-foot public exhibit, Mdewakanton: Dwellers of the Spirit Lake, that provides visitors with a cultural experience to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Mdewakanton Dakota people and their history.
Whether guests prefer to explore the exhibit on their own or desire a group guided tour, Mdewakanton: Dwellers of the Spirit Lake will provide guests with a traditional Mdewakanton Dakota experience unlike any other.
