Third Coast Percussion joins forces with the groundbreaking choreography of Movement Art Is for an intimate program that explores the duality of human nature. Two disparate styles of street dance blend seamlessly with new music by Jlin and Tyondai Braxton.
This collaborative project between GRAMMY-Award winning Third Coast Percussion and Movement Art Is celebrates a dynamic artistic collaboration through the blending of street dance and percussion ensemble. Choreographed by Lil Buck and Jon Boogz and created almost entirely during the COVID-19 pandemic, the work is very personal and illustrates emotional growth with themes that are universal, but are particular to the experience of young Black men growing up in America today.
This matinee performance at Northrop is aligned with a lesson plan that meets the Minnesota English Language Arts Standard – offering a range of activities and resources that can be used before, during, and after the performance.
