THE BAKKEN MUSEUM EXPERIENCES

The Bakken Museum inspires a passion for innovation by exploring the potential for science, technology, and the humanities to make the world a better place. Located on the West shore of Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis, the museum features a world-renowned collection of artifacts, exceptional STEM education programs, meticulously kept grounds and gardens, and interactive exhibits exploring the wonders of invention, plant medicine, technology, and science.

Field Trips for Grades 3–12
During each field trip, students explore the connections between science, engineering, and innovation in a guided workshop and gallery tour of The Bakken Museum. Students learn that when they wonder, try, discover, and share, they are engaging in the science, engineering, and innovation process. Students are led through hands-on challenges and interactives designed to spark curiosity, create conversations, and awaken the innovator in each of them. Combined field trip experiences with the nearby Pavek Museum are also available for grades 4-6. All workshops and tours support Academic Science Standards.

Off-Site Education Programs for Grades K–12
Can’t make it to the museum? The Bakken Museum’s Outreach team travels across Minnesota and the Upper Midwest to provide engaging STEM programs to over 44,700 students each year. The museum’s programs use humor and exciting demonstrations to explore the connections between science, technology, and the humanities.
