I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand. Get your kids out of the history textbook and into hands-on interactive learning by doing living history experiences. We are the field trip that comes to you with experiences that will bring your history curriculum to life.
Learning by doing is more engaging and memorable. Since this requires action on your students’ part, they are not going to be able to weaken their performance. This compared to traditional learning which is from lectures, books, or articles, from which learners could easily read, or not read, the text and walk away with no knowledge at all from it.
When students are put into a situation where they have to do what they need to learn, it’s easier to remember those things. Every action provides personalized learning experiences, and it’s where motivation is built. That motivation connects to what is learned and felt. It teaches that learning is relevant and meaningful.
This is what we do and this is what we will bring into your learning environment. Hands on, real-life living history experiences that will make the events of the past come alive and become so much more meaningful to those students engaged. Instead off reading about or hearing about the Boston Massacre, we will have your students reenacting that event from the American Revolution and by doing so bring a better understanding of the event; its causes and effects.
Instead reading about and hearing lectures about the American Civil War soldier and what his life was like and what it was like to fight in that war, we will have a soldier, in uniform, showing students his uniform, equipment and speaking in the first-person what he experienced during the war. After which your students will become soldier-recruits in the Union Army and will learn the rudiments of being a soldier from a sergeant who will drill the student-recruits in Hardees Infantry Tactics. Students will then demonstrate their understanding by carrying out the learned maneuvers with a wooden cut-out replica musket.
